August 15 (Friday): Senior Portraits Due
- Contact Roger Blackstock at the Portrait Place on Main Street
- Contact the Portrait Place by calling (434) 369-6777
Senior Dues--Due August 28 (Thursday) (or before attending senior events)
- Please be reminded that you must have paid $20 for your senior dues to participate in any senior activities
- Money from all dues is used to fund senior events and is well worth the cost to participate
- Pay money to Mr. Evans or using SchoolCash Online.
- THIS IS A ONE TIME PAYMENT
August 29th (Friday): Senior Sunrise Breakfast--6:30 am, AHS Football Field
- Seniors will gather to watch the sunrise
- Participating seniors are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets
- Donuts and juice will be served
September 15 (Monday): Senior Graduation Assembly with Jostens--1:30 pm, ACS Auditorium
- All Seniors will learn about senior events
- Jostens will present information regarding graduation attire and other products
September 19 (Friday): Senior T-Shirt Contest Deadline
- Entries must be submitted using this Google Form: https://forms.gle/B61qDeBnqYvQp7uA6
- Winner will receive their shirt for FREE
- Design must meet all requirements specified on the Google Form directions.
- Final selection will be put to a vote by the Senior Class
September 23 (Tuesday): Jostens will collect orders for graduation attire
- Jostens will be set up during lunch in the cafeteria lobby
- Jostens will also collect orders in the cafeteria after school until 6:15 PM
November 21 (Friday): Secret Santa forms due to Ms. Morton
- see below for Secret Santa Breakfast details
- forms can be picked up starting November 1st
December 5 (Friday): Secret Santa Breakfast--7:30 am
- Only participants may attend
- Secret Santa gifts will be exchanged– price should not exceed $15
- Breakfast will be provided at no cost to the participants
March 9 (Monday): Jostens Delivery Day
- Ordered graduation items will be delivered during lunch in the Cafeteria
March 19 (Thursday): YMCA Fun Day--Altavista Area YMCA
- School lunch is offered during event
- Permission forms must be turned in to Ms. Morton
- $20 Senior dues must have been paid to attend

May 8 (Friday): Senior Trip to Kings Dominion--7am-9pm, Students arrive no later than 6:30 am to back parking lot
- Cost $100
- $20 senior dues must also be paid
- Money and permission slip to Mr. Evans by Friday, April 3rd

- Seniors needing SOL tests may not be able to attend.
TBD: Senior Walk at AES
- Students MUST have their caps and gowns for the walk.
- We will ride school buses to AES and walk through the hallways of the school past the elementary students.
- This will allow you to inspire a future generation and say farewell to your school years.
May 17 (Sunday): Baccalaureate--6pm, High School Gym, Students arrive at 5 pm--Formal Dress Event
- Please sign up via the Baccalaureate Google Form
- The candle lighting partner does not necessarily have to be in 6th-11th grade. We have had elementary students in the past, but your candle lighting partner must be able to handle carrying a lit candle. Be wise, please
- This is a non-denominational, optional event and you must sign up to participate
May 22 (Friday): Senior Picnic--8:30 am to 1:00 pm, English Park
- Students must arrive at school at regular time and check in for attendance. At 8:30, seniors will be bused to English Park. Student drivers may travel to and from the park.
- We will have time to socialize, play games, and sports.
- Lunch will be served at 11:30. The picnic will end at 1pm.
- Dues must be paid to attend this event.
TBD: Senior Class Picture--High School Gym, 8 am
- Students should arrive no later than 7:45am
- Students MUST have their caps and gowns for the photo
- At 8:30, students will line up for the Senior Awards ceremony
- Do NOT decorate caps until after this event
TBD: Senior Awards, ACS Gym: 8:30 am--Formal Dress Event
- This event is required.
- Students must wear caps and gowns with formal attire.
TBD: Senior Night of Achievement, 5:30 pm, ACS Auditorium
- This event is for invited students receiving scholarships.
- Students must let Ms. Tyree or Mrs. Lucy know about scholarships that they are receiving by the deadline to receive an invitation.
TBD: Senior Sunset, 7:30 pm, AHS Band Field
- This event is the evening of Senior Awards
- S’mores will be served.
- Seniors will gather on the band field to watch the sunset and close out their senior year.
May 28 (Thursday): Graduation Practice, Vines Center
- Students may provide their own transportation to and from practice.
- For those without their own transportation, transportation will be provided from ACS.
- Transportation will be provided from ACS.
- Failure to participate in Graduation Practice results in not being allowed to walk at Graduation.
This is a mandatory event. - Ladies are advised to bring shoes they will wear to graduation in order to practice on the stairs.
May 30 (Saturday): Graduation, Vines Center 10:00 am, Students arrive by 9:15 am---Formal Dress Event
- Students MUST have their caps and gowns and formal attire for Graduation.
- Make sure you’re on the Vines Center Concourse and ready to go at designated arrival time.
- If you have not ordered your cap and gown yet, please do so ASAP.

There are many club opportunities at varying points throughout the school year.
Students wishing to begin a club must find a staff member willing to sponsor the club and submit a written proposal to the principal.

Student Parking
The Code of Virginia § 22.1-205.1 requires any public high school student applying to park a vehicle on school property to prove that the student possesses a valid driver’s license or driver privilege card.
It also requires that each public school utilize a standard application form developed by the Department of Education for students to use to obtain a pass to park a vehicle on school property.
The cost for a student parking decal is $10. Exact cash or check is accepted. The check should be payable to Altavista Combined School with “Parking Pass” and the “Student Name” in the memo.
Parking on school property is a privilege and can be revoked by the principal at any time for non-compliance with the expectations outlined in the ACS Student Driver Contract.
To Obtain an Altavista Combined School Parking Pass:
- Read, sign, and return the ACS Student Driver Contract to the main office.
- Complete the VDOE High School Student Parking Pass Application and submit it to the main office for processing and approval.
- Give a copy of the student's valid Driver's License or Driver Privilege Card and Vehicle Registration to the main office.
- Pay $10 to the main office for the parking pass.
